Regardless of How the Elections Play Out, AAHOA Is Assertively Engaging on Members' Top Priorities

With the election less than a week away, the possibility of lawmakers in Washington reaching an agreement on another round of COVID-19 relief before Election Day has faded. Senators adjourned on Monday and are not scheduled to return until Monday, November 9. Attention is now turning to whether a deal might come together in a lame-duck session of Congress.

This time between an election and the conclusion of the present term is wildly unpredictable. The results of the presidential and individual congressional elections will dramatically impact the level of enthusiasm for an additional stimulus package before the new Congress is seated in January. Regardless of how the elections play out, AAHOA is assertively engaging on our members' priorities: fighting for a second round of PPP funding, additional forbearance from lenders, access to capital to address outstanding costs including mortgage debt and property tax obligations, and a liability shield to protect hoteliers from frivolous exposure-related lawsuits.

Our message to Congress is simple: our industry is devastated and we are facing immense challenges in the weeks ahead. America's hotel owners cannot wait for several months to receive additional help. Congress must act now. Please stay tuned to AAHOA's Daily Digest and social media to learn more about how you can get involved to protect your businesses.

Similar to what has been seen in recent months, though trending slightly ahead of what was seen in August and September, the U.S. entered the month of October at just over 20% occupancy.
