Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) Advance Program Runs Out of Money
The Economic Injury Disaster Loan (EIDL) Advance program – which provided $10,000 to businesses that applied for an EIDL loan, whether or not the loan itself was approved – is officially out of money, the Small Business Administration (SBA) announced on Monday. The advance program had provided grants to businesses since the CARES Act was passed but reached the $20-billion funding limit set by Congress.

The end of the grant program, which was among the government’s core responses to help businesses during the COVID-19 crisis, comes as other sources of relief for business owners also are drying up.

CDC: Toolkit Will Help Families Stay Safe While Traveling in the Age of COVID-19
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently released a Toolkit for Domestic Travelers with guidance and tools to help travelers protect themselves, their families, and their communities when they travel. It includes fact sheets about how to stop the spread of the virus, how to protect yourself and others, web resources on how to protect yourself on transportation and traveling overnight, a coronavirus self-checker, social media graphics, PSAs, and more. See the full toolkit here.

Kalibri Labs: Hotel Occupancy, ADR Continue to Trend Upward: Airline Ticket Purchases Still Down

With the July 4 holiday weekend acting as a catalyst, occupancy and ADR continued on an upward week-to-week trend across all rate categories. Rack/BAR experienced a sizable increase in demand week over week, most likely attributable to the holiday weekend demand. These are two of the biggest takeaways from Kalibri Labs’ latest COVID-19 Impact: Recovery Analysis.

On the down side, net airline tickets purchased continues to trend negative in most major markets, as well as the U.S. as a whole. The uncertainty with case spikes and potential rollback of business restrictions is most likely impacting future travel purchases. See the full report here.
