Martha McSally (R-AZ) introduced the American TRIP Act, a bill to provide a tax credit of up to $4,000 per individual for money spent on lodging, entertainment, and other travel expenses in the U.S. The bill also provides funding for destination marketing organizations to promote the travel and tourism industry. This bill is similar to the travel tax credit proposal outlined in U.S. Travel Association’s legislative priorities.

Industry groups are continuing to work closely with members of Congress on both sides of the aisle on a bipartisan approach to implementing a travel tax credit and expect to see similar legislation introduced in the near future.
