2020 AAHOA Convention Goes Virtual

Dear AAHOA Members,

From the beginning, AAHOA has been working with government and health agencies to create a 2020 AAHOA Convention & Trade Show that puts the health and safety of our attendees, exhibitors, and staff at the very core of our decision-making process and of highest priority.

Florida is currently experiencing a significant spike in new COVID-19 infections and hospitalizations, and the Florida Department of Health (DOH) now recommends limiting recreational gatherings to fewer than 50 people. Restrictions about inbound travelers also remain. The new health and safety guidelines for combatting COVID-19 issued by the DOH Saturday, June 20, make it clear that we will not be able to proceed with our in-person 2020 Convention & Trade Show.

For the past several months, we have been encouraged by the optimism of our members and partners about the importance of hosting this year’s convention. While we are grateful for the support of those who planned to attend, including more than 400 exhibitors, the restrictions now in place, with no certainty of when or if they will lift, lead us to this difficult decision.

Planning a Virtual Path Forward

AAHOACON20 was to be the event that rallied our industry and brought all of us together in person as we continue to navigate through the implications of COVID-19 on our businesses and livelihoods. While we are disappointed in the turn of events, we are committed to you, America’s hoteliers, and are looking forward to hosting a virtual event where we can still have the opportunity to join together and plan our path forward.

For attendees already registered, AAHOA will be issuing refunds in the forthcoming days for any registration fees related to the Orlando event. If you have any questions in the meantime, please visit our FAQ to learn more.

AAHOA Still Coming Together: AAHOACON Goes Virtual

We look forward to sharing additional details about our upcoming virtual event to showcase selected keynote speakers and panels, and our annual meeting, with secure, online elections for AAHOA’s Board of Directors and Secretary. And we especially look forward to seeing you next year at the 2021 AAHOA Convention & Trade Show, May 4-7, in Dallas, TX.

Thank you for your unwavering support, enthusiasm, and patience. While we may not be meeting in person, we are stronger together and we will make it to the other side.

Very truly yours,

Biran Patel
