Dear Neighbor,

Thanksgiving marks the beginning of the wonderful holiday season, but its meaning often gets lost in the food and hustling around from one place to another while visiting friends and family during the short breaks from school or work.

Thanksgiving is meant to be a time to slow down and give thanks for the many blessings we have received throughout the year. My family and I have so much to be thankful for again this year. I am thankful for my husband, children, colleagues and many good friends. I am especially grateful for the opportunity to represent the people of northern Ohio and am thankful for the amazing staff who work in my office —I am thrilled by what we have been able to accomplish together to benefit the incredible, hard-working people who call Ohio home.

There are many things to be thankful for, but don’t let your gratitude stop with just a thought. It is important that we turn our thoughts into action. Express thanks to those who are close to you, to those who have helped you this year, and to the many men and women in our military who protect our way of life. Find opportunities to serve those who are less fortunate this holiday season.

Below are just a few organizations in our community that offer the opportunity to serve this Thanksgiving and holiday season:

Toledo Northwestern Ohio Food Bank: Operation Turkey 2021
Second Harvest Food Bank
The Salvation Army of Northwest Ohio
Bowling Green Christian Food Pantry
OhGoReach
United Way in Ottawa County

Together, we can make the true meaning of this holiday come to life.

Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours!
Sincerely,
