Message from the National Health Chief Information Officer

As we monitor and respond to COVID-19, it’s important that we remain aware with regards to personal and community safety, practicing good hygiene and physical distancing. However now more than ever, the continued adoption of digital health services in Australia is vital.

While this has presented some challenges, it has also created opportunity. Through the National Digital Health Strategy, government is partnering with our internationally competitive and vibrant health technology sector at a time when the use of technology in health and social care continues to gain importance.

With lockdown continuing for some, telehealth services and My Health Record enable more Australians to stay connected to healthcare professionals. COVID-19 has also increased the use of My Health Record and the latest statistics show which healthcare providers are contributing the most documents to the system.

We will keep you updated on how we can each adopt and support digital health services in Australia now and into the future.
