Remembrance 2026
Remembrance 2026: Wear your Poppy. Take part. Remember.

As Remembrance Day approaches, Canadians are preparing to honour those who served and sacrificed for our country. From wearing a Poppy to attending ceremonies and sharing the stories of the Fallen, there are many meaningful ways to take part in Remembrance and ensure their sacrifices are never forgotten.

This year's Remembrance period begins with profound sadness following the tragic incident at CFB Wainwright. Our thoughts are with those who lost their lives, the injured, their families and the entire Canadian Armed Forces community. This tragedy is a solemn reminder of the sacrifices made by those who serve Canada, and the importance of standing together in Remembrance.

The Royal Canadian Legion is deeply saddened by the tragic incident at CFB Wainwright, Alberta, that resulted in the loss of lives and numerous injuries. The Legion extends its heartfelt condolences to the families and loved ones of those affected, and stands in solidarity with the entire Canadian Armed Forces community during this difficult time. Wear Your Poppy Oct. 24 - Nov. 11

As Legion members, we know the Poppy is more than a symbol. It is a promise to remember those who served and sacrificed for Canada.

On October 21, Dominion President Sharon McKeown will present the symbolic First Poppy to Her Excellency the Right Honourable Louise Arbour, Governor General of Canada, ahead of the launch of the 2026 National Poppy Campaign on October 24.

From October 24 to November 11, wear your Poppy proudly and help keep Remembrance visible in your community.

Across Canada, thousands of Legion members and volunteers will be distributing Poppies and accepting donations. Funds raised through the Campaign help provide vital support to Veterans and their families through the Poppy Trust Fund.

Whether you are volunteering during the Campaign, visiting your Branch or simply wearing your Poppy, your participation helps carry the tradition of Remembrance forward.

Don't Forget to Remember
Remember those messages of Remembrance?

Earlier this year, Legion Branches and members across Canada helped collect handwritten messages of Remembrance on sticky notes.

Those heartfelt words are about to become part of something special.

On October 24, see how your messages are helping bring Remembrance to life in a whole new way.

Take Part in Remembrance Day

On November 11, Canadians will come together to honour and remember all those who served and sacrificed for our country.

One of the most meaningful ways to take part is by attending a Remembrance Day ceremony in your community. Legion Branches across Canada are organizing ceremonies, and new listings continue to be added to Legion.ca.

If you are unable to attend in person, you can watch the National Remembrance Day Ceremony on the Legion’s Facebook page and join Canadians across the country in observing two minutes of silence at 11:00 a.m.

Poppy Stories on a mobile device
Scan your Poppy. Discover a story.

The Legion is once again proud to present Poppy Stories, an initiative that lets Canadians scan a lapel Poppy with their smartphone and discover the story of someone who gave their life in service to our country.

Each story offers a glimpse into the person behind the sacrifice - their family, community, career and passions - helping us remember not only how they served, but who they were.

Scan your Poppy with your mobile device and discover a story to remember.
