On July 17, Veterans, Legion members, dignitaries and members of the public gathered at the National War Memorial in Ottawa to commemorate the Legion’s 100^th anniversary.

The ceremony honoured a century of supporting Veterans and their families, promoting Remembrance and strengthening communities. It included commemorative wreaths, a youth poetry reading, a Canadian Remembrance Torch and a special Hercules aircraft flyover.

Branches across the country also marked the milestone with local celebrations, helping Canadians recognize the Legion’s history and continuing impact.

Canada Post has unveiled a new stamp commemorating the 100^th anniversary of the official incorporation of The Royal Canadian Legion.

Since July 1926, the Legion has played an important role in supporting Canada’s Veterans and their families, serving communities and commemorating the service and sacrifice of all who have served.

The stamp also recognizes the Legion’s network of Branches, which provide spaces where Veterans, their families and community members can gather for support, activities and connection.

Canada Post employees are also joining in the Legion’s centennial celebrations by recognizing Branches in communities across the country.

Through an employee-driven initiative, Canada Post employees are reaching out to local Legion Branches to present commemorative plaques featuring the Legion 100th Anniversary stamp.

The plaques recognize the important role Branches have played for a century in supporting Veterans, their families and communities, and reflect Canada Post’s longstanding connection with the Legion and Canada’s military community.

The deadline to participate in the Don’t Forget to Remember initiative has been extended to August 21, giving more Canadians time to share a message of Remembrance.

As part of the Legion’s Centenary, handwritten messages collected at participating Branches and online will be incorporated into national commemorative murals honouring Canada’s Veterans, service and sacrifice.

In November 1925, representatives from Veterans’ organizations across Canada gathered at Winnipeg’s Marlborough Hotel for a historic unity conference.

Their meeting led to the formation of the Canadian Legion of the British Empire Service League, which was officially incorporated the following July and later became The Royal Canadian Legion.

As the Legion returns to Winnipeg for its 50^th Dominion Convention, discover how one hotel became the birthplace of a national organization.

Legion members from across Canada and abroad will gather in Winnipeg from August 22 to 26 for the 50^th Dominion Convention.

Held every two years, Dominion Convention gives representatives from Branches, Provincial Commands and the national level an opportunity to discuss issues affecting Veterans and the Legion, consider resolutions and establish priorities for the years ahead.

Delegates will also elect the Legion’s Senior Elected Officers, including the next Dominion President.

Convention is a time to reconnect, exchange ideas and celebrate the volunteers, history and shared mission that unite the Legion.

Pacific Western Rail Systems has created a special 12-car series of HO- and N-scale model trains to commemorate the Legion’s 100^th anniversary.

Developed in partnership with the Legion, each car features Centenary-themed artwork recognizing a century of service to Veterans, Remembrance and communities across Canada. A portion of the proceeds from every purchase will support Legion programs.
