November 13, 2024
Dear Branches,
Canada Post workers may be in a legal strike position as early as Friday, November 15th. We are currently planning for this potential situation. As we receive more information, we will share additional details. However, please be aware that any strike action may result in delays to both supply and membership orders.
As a potential strike could interrupt postal services, please be reminded that all member administration and processing can be completed online through the Member Services Website at portal.legion.ca.
Key Information for Branches:
- Portal Processing Guide: For detailed instructions, please refer to the Portal Processing Guide or view our Portal Membership Training Videos. If you need help with online processing, our Member Services Team is available to assist.
- Payment Options: Payments for online processing can be made by credit card. If your branch does not use a credit card, cheque payments can be mailed once Canada Post services resume.
- Online Data Changes: All data updates—including membership card requests, magazine delivery adjustments, member transfers, and marking members as deceased—can be completed directly online.
Digital Membership Cards
We also offer a digital membership card option, which provides no-cost, instant delivery via email. Members can download their digital card directly to their mobile wallet, and this can be requested through the portal.
Shipping of Physical Membership Cards
In the event of a complete postal stoppage, physical membership cards, 2024 and 2025 renewal stickers, and processing transmittals will be sent once Canada Post services resume.
For any questions, please contact Member Services at 1-855-330-3344 or membership@legion.ca.
Shipping of Supply Orders
Based on the severity of the strike, we will provide alternate shipping options as soon as we have more information.
Thank you for your cooperation in preparing for this potential service disruption.
