Preserving remembrance with Immortal Poppy
The Immortal Poppy is a new, lasting way to support and remember our Canadian fallen heroes. In recognition of the Poppy’s 100th anniversary, one hundred pieces of digital Poppy artwork will be created and sold with funds raised going directly to the National Poppy Trust Fund. More information will be released in the coming weeks.
“Technological advancements offer new opportunities, and we’re excited to provide multiple options to make it easy for people to support the campaign,” explains Dominion President Bruce Julian.
The “Immortal Poppy” will launch as part of the overall National Poppy Campaign on October 29, 2021.
Remembrance Day Commemoration locator
The Legion is introducing a Remembrance Day Ceremony Locator at this year. Legion Branches are in the process of populating this page to help Canadians find a Legion-supported Remembrance ceremony closest to them.
If you don’t see a ceremony near you, encourage your Legion to enter their Branch’s ceremony in the locator.
Pay Tribute
As part of an ongoing pilot project launched in 2020, the Legion’s “Pay Tribute” tap to give boxes will be featured once again. Available at 1000 locations, including HSBC Bank Canada branches, select Legion Branches and other locations starting October 29, these digital boxes will now offer additional donation amount options ($2, $5 and $10) and the red lapel Poppies.
Traditional Poppy boxes will still be available at thousands of locations across the country for cash donations and lapel Poppy distribution.

Digital Poppy
The 2021 Digital Poppy will remain part of the overall Poppy Campaign. By visiting people will be able to donate and receive a digital Poppy, which can be shared with friends and family through social media.
Funds raised through the Digital Poppy will go directly to the Legion National Foundation, a separate entity from the Legion but whose work also helps Veterans and their families in many ways.

National Remembrance Day Ceremony and Wreath initiative
On November 11, the Legion will offer a Facebook Live presentation of the National Remembrance Day Ceremony. National broadcasters will cover the ceremony as in the past.
For the second year in a row, spectators will be discouraged from attending in person due to pandemic limitations. People will still be able to take part in the National Ceremony in a symbolic way by purchasing a memorial wreath that will be pre-positioned at the National War Memorial in Ottawa. Purchase a wreath by November 1st.
The Legion’s Poppy Drop on Parliament Hill’s Peace Tower will feature a digital light show with 117,000 virtual Poppies representing each of Canada’s fallen since the beginning of the First World War. The display runs from October 29 to November 11, from 6:30–9:30 pm ET, including until midnight on the 11th. Virtual Poppies will also cascade down the Senate building at the same times, and on the National Arts Centre’s “Kipnes Lantern” on November 11, from 7:00 am ET to midnight. Watch live on October 29 on the Legion’s Facebook page.
First Poppy Presentation to the Governor General
Dominion President Bruce Julian will present the Symbolic First Poppy to the Governor General, Her Excellency the Right Honourable Mary May Simon at Rideau Hall on October 25 at 10:30 AM (EST).
The Poppy Campaign launches on Friday, when Poppies become available to all Canadians from coast to coast to coast.
