About this event

Meeting with employees to address performance and conduct concerns is a fundamental part of the Human Resources function. It’s important to be mindful of the meeting’s purpose and take into account the possibility that such concerns, and how you address them, may ultimately end up in proceedings before the Fair Work Commission or a court.

As a result, you should be mindful of the need to plan such meetings, and also consider the value, as evidence, of good notes.

Taking notes in these meetings, on the surface, may seem reasonably straightforward. However, it is crucial for notes to be clear, well-written, and made contemporaneously. You should also take into account the potential contexts in which they could be retrieved, including as evidence in proceedings about what was discussed. Adopting a structured and meaningful approach to this, including being able to access notes for future retrieval and use, is also important.

This webinar will provide some key recommendations and practical guidance on planning these types of meetings, running them, and making suitable written records of what was discussed. Case studies will also highlight where employers have got it right and not-so-right – and what the implications can be.

The webinar will also provide an opportunity for participants to ask questions.

This webinar is ideal for HR managers, HR staff at all levels and operational staff who take notes of staff engagement in the course of their day-to-day role.
