NEW RELEASE | Work Integrated Learning (WIL) Position Paper Ai Group Centre for Education and Training has released a position paper advocating for strengthened relationships between industry and universities, with a focus on work-integrated learning. The paper highlights the need for learning to be immersed in work environments, aligning with the dynamic nature of industry strategies, practices, and skill needs. Australian Industry Group (Ai Group) Chief Executive, Innes Willox, acknowledges the existence of high-quality, innovative work-integrated learning initiatives among Ai Group members. However, he emphasizes that “Australian university links to industry are under-developed by international standards. Collectively we must significantly upscale learning and work interactions between companies, universities and students during a student’s learning journey.” The paper provides a comprehensive overview of work-integrated learning forms, from micro-placements to degree apprenticeships. It explores strategies for companies to foster closer relationships with universities. “It demonstrates how some companies are experiencing, and benefitting from, close connections with universities,” Mr Willox added. The paper also outlines the necessary actions to further embed and evolve the practice of work-integrated learning. This includes government resourcing and funding support, joint responsibilities between government, industry, and universities, and additional actions by universities. “Our Centre for Education and Training is working to influence the key areas for action recommended in the paper. We welcome approaches to the Centre from like-minded companies, agencies, governments and individuals across the skills ecosystem,” Mr Willox said. #employeeturnover is a natural part of organisational life. People come and go as they seek new opportunities or face personal circumstances that lead them away from their current roles. Sometimes workers are 'pulled’ to an opportunity; other times they decide to leave based on ‘push factors’. It’s crucial for #employers to recognise these push factors so there isn't an open door for talent to walk through. When organisations understand these internal nudges, they can take proactive steps to improve retention and create a thriving work environment. Find out how to identify and address push factors in Georgina Pacor's latest blog post for Australian Industry Group (Ai Group). ⬇ #aigroup #leadership #leadershipdevelopment #turnovercosts

Ai Group Apprentice and Trainee Centre's #queensland Area Coordinator, Jennifer Southern, inspired students at a #careerexpo at Faith Lutheran College - Plainland this week, letting them know of the fantastic benefits of completing a school-based #apprenticeship or #traineeship. Jenni, along with colleague Marta Vezvaei, MEd, spoke to students from Years 7-12, who had loads of questions about apprenticeships, the Ai Group ATC and specific trades. "I asked students if they had a trade in mind and if not, I asked what they liked to do: fix things, build things or something different — to narrow down the options," Jenni said. "It's very important they get clear information that they can share with their parents." ▪ Click here if your school would like to (or if you would like your child's school to) find out more about the opportunities of completing a school-based apprenticeship or traineeship with the Ai Group ATC: ➡ https://lnkd.in/gg5mMxyG #aigroup #aigroupatc Peter Nolan Craig Hilton
