Airbnb, VRBO to be Subject to Lodging Taxes Under New Nevada Law

Nevada will collect lodging taxes from short-term rental companies such as Airbnb Inc. under a mearsure signed into law by Gov. Steve Sisolak (D).

The law (A.B. 363) will requires local governments to collect the taxes in counties with 700,000 or more residents and cities of 25,000 or more people in those counties.

  • The law takes effect July 1, 2022 and includes location and occupancy restrictions for short-term rentals.
  • Expedia Group, representing short-term rental company VRBO, opposed the legislation.
