Local senator working to mark June 12 as Women's Veterans Day

The Ohio State Senate considered a bill to mark June 12 as Women's Veterans Day.

State Senator Frank Hoagland of Mingo Junction is a co-sponsor of the bill.

"To date, female service members represent the fastest growing demographics throughout all branches of our military,” Hoagland said. “In commemoration of the 70th anniversary of the Women's Armed Services Integration Act, it is only fitting that we recognize the accomplishments of all women veterans across the state of Ohio."

The bill passed the Ohio Senate, 30-0 and now goes to the Ohio House.
