COORDINARE recently announced $1.5 million in funding until June 2021 for Flourish Australia to provide a new psychosocial support service for people with severe and complex mental health needs who are not eligible for assistance through the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS).

Flourish Australia was selected as the provider of the program, following an extensive tender selection process. The organisation will utilise peer workers and volunteers to work together to support individual recovery goals and provide group programs with a focus on stepped care and recovery principles.

Flourish Australia have a strong presence and understanding of the South Eastern NSW region with offices in Wollongong, Nowra, Ulladulla, Batemans Bay, Bega, Queanbeyan and Goulburn. Anyone interested in this new support service can call 1300 779 270. Referrals are accepted but not required. Read more

In other news, COORDINARE is inviting general practices to apply for funding to integrate pharmacists in to the general practice care team. Through this funding, COORDINARE seeks to support the integration of pharmacists as part of the care team by developing strong working relationships with both general practice and community pharmacy; and assist practices to support vulnerable patients and reduce potentially preventable hospitalisations. Engaging local residents in understanding My Health Record has been another important focus for us. We are delighted that 82% of pharmacies and 84% of general practices in the region are now registered with My Health Record. Last year, we facilitated 375 local community events, reaching 11,425 people directly in the region. Our electronic and print materials also reached over 480,000 local residents. Local people now have the 3rd highest rate of viewing My Health Record in the state.

Finally, we farewelled our Medical Director, Dr Tanya Robertson, who has made a terrific contribution to our Clinical Governance, Clinical Councils and collaboration with the Local Health Districts, including the mentoring of our GP Liaison roles in Southern NSW.

We wish Tanya all the best for her travels. We are also delighted to welcome back Dr Tony MacDermott as our Acting Medical Director.
