A word from our CEO: Dianne Kitcher

Our first regional workshop on the 'Future of Primary Care in South Eastern NSW' was held recently and it was great to see so many people in attendance. Professor Claire Jackson (prominent GP and researcher in models of care) and Leanne Wells (CEO of the Consumer Health Forum) provided both a general practice and consumer perspective on primary care reform and the intended changes in the Australian context with the roll out of stage one of the Health Care Home.

The event also provided an opportunity for attendee's to share their views about the Health Care Home including the supports required for practices to respond to the changes. It was interesting to hear three key themes emerge: practices need support to develop a business model around the HCH principles but just as importantly need activated patients and responsive, appropriate services from the Local Health District. There's still one more workshop coming up in Wollongong on 28 November. Register now >

Last week we launched our Consumer Health Panel inviting local consumers to get involved and have their say on a range of health care issues which impact on them, their family or friends. The Panel is part of our ongoing commitment to engaging consumers and we encourage you to promote the panel amongst your patient population via flyers and posters now available. Find out more >

We also released our 2015/16 Report Card which presents some key highlights and achievements during our first year of operation.
