Dear Neighbor,

As the June 30 state operating budget deadline is fast approaching, we are optimistic that this biennial budget will make significant investments in Ohio's future! The budget includes a strong investment in improving the water quality of Lake Erie, significant tax cuts for you and your family, increased funding for schools, and more assistance for local governments.

Click here to learn about the Ohio Senate's budget plan, which we passed recently with unanimous, bipartisan support. We are currently working through differences with our colleagues in the Ohio House in order to send a final budget to Governor DeWine for his signature.

Over the next two and half months I will be spending more time back in the district, meeting with constituents and attending events across our part of the state. I hope to see you soon! As always, I can be reached by phone at 614-466-8060, e-mail at Gavarone@OhioSenate.gov or through my social media pages listed at the end of this update.

Sincerely,

State Senator Theresa Gavarone

Homeownership: the American Dream
Homeownership provides many social and economic benefits, not just for the homeowner, but also for the communities in which they live.

Unfortunately, homeownership rates are falling for various reasons. To change that, I am working on
SB 139 to make it easier for people to save for the purchase of their first home.

Severe Weather Taking a Toll on Ohio's Farmland
I joined Governor DeWine and Agriculture Director Dorothy Pelanda in Wood County to visit a farm and talk to farmers about the impact of the historic flooding Ohio has experienced recently and how we can help their families and businesses during this difficult time. The Governor recently requested disaster assistance from the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

The Ohio Treasurer’s office administers two economic development programs that may be beneficial to impacted individuals or entities when insurance coverage or relief funds do not cover the full cost of the damage,
