An Update from Senator Bob Peterson

Dear Neighbor,

I hope your spring season is off to a great start. In the Ohio Senate we continue to work diligently to have a positive impact on the 17th Senate District and the great State of Ohio. This new year we have already sworn in a new governor along with the other statewide office holders, set our legislative priorities for the coming two years and are currently working on the state's biennial budget.

In the coming months, the Ohio Senate will be addressing issues such as regulatory reform, improving safe home environments for Ohio's children, and passing possibly the two most important bills of the General Assembly--the State Transportation Budget and State Operating Budget. I will continue to keep in mind all of the input I have received from my constituents as we work through these important issues.

It continues to be my honor and privilege to represent you in the Ohio Senate, and I look forward to continuing to make your priorities, my priorities. As always, I invite your feedback and encourage you to keep me informed of ideas you have to improve our community. Please feel free to contact me anytime at (614) 466-8156 or at

Our district is full of folks who enjoy spending time with their family out on the water, and the Marine Patrol Grant helps ensure they can do so in a safe manner. Thank you to our local sheriffs and the Division of Parks and Watercraft for their work to patrol our waterways, and I hope everyone has the opportunity to enjoy some time out on the water this summer.
Celebrating Career-Technical Education and Skilled Workforce Development Month
In Ohio, March is "Career-Technical Education and Skilled Workforce Development Month," which provides an excellent opportunity to raise awareness of the important role our career and technical education systems and skilled workforce development programs play in supporting the strength and vitality of our state's economic future.

This month at the 2019 Career-Technical Education Student Showcase, I had the pleasure to connect with students from Pickaway-Ross Career & Technology Center and witness firsthand just how impactful our local programs are. I was impressed by their work, and enjoyed discussing their future goals and plans. You should be proud, as they have set an excellent example for others to follow.

Getting Down to Business at the 2019 Southwest Ohio Advocacy Day
This month, I joined Senate colleagues and a number of community leaders to discuss the Senate's priority legislation and some of the challenges being faced by Ohioans today. Sponsored by the Cincinnati Chamber of Commerce, I enjoyed the opportunity to discuss new
and innovative ways we can help our business owners in southern Ohio.

I also want to take this opportunity to share the Ohio Secretary of State's Ohio Business Road Map, which contains detailed information on how you can fulfill your dream of starting your own business. Follow the link below to see Ohio's 8 step process.

In my role as your State Senator, I frequently have the opportunity to meet with the bright students in our district, and I like to ask them what plans they have for the future. Through OhioMeansJobs K-12, the State provides an excellent online portal to help them work through this simple, but difficult question.
