Dear Neighbor,

As the first month of the new year comes to a close, I'm sure you are all diligently sticking to your New Year's resolutions. In the Ohio Senate, we are certainly sticking to our resolution to continue to prioritize issues that matter to the people of Ohio, and passing legislation that will have a positive impact on families across the state.

It has been an honor to meet with many constituents already in the new year, and my colleagues and I are having daily discussions regarding what we would like to accomplish. From our initial conversations, continuing to cut burdensome red tape for small businesses, creating new opportunities for job creation, and criminal sentencing reform will certainly be among other priority issues.

As always, I invite your feedback and encourage you to keep me informed of ideas you have to improve our community. Please feel free to contact me anytime at (614) 466-8156 or at Peterson@OhioSenate.gov.

Sincerely,

Bob Peterson
Ohio State Senator
Senate District 17

Reelected to Senate Leadership Team as Senate President Pro Tempore
It is an honor to once again be trusted by my colleagues to fill this leadership role, and I am eager to begin working with the new members of our Senate family on issues that are important to them and their constituents. I look forward to working over the next two years to maintain Ohio's balanced budget, reduce barriers to economic development, and continue to build on the many successes we had in the 132nd General Assembly.

Opening Day and Swearing in Ceremony for 133rd General Assembly
This month, I was honored to once again be sworn in as your State Senator for Ohio's 17th Senate District. With the support of my family and constituents, there is no limit to what we will be able to accomplish over the next four years. I am grateful to the people of our district for placing their trust in me and giving me the opportunity to once again serve our state, region and communities.

Workers' Comp Proposes Largest Rate Reduction in 60 Years for Ohio Employers
The Ohio Bureau of Workers' Compensation recently proposed a 20-percent reduction in the average premium rate it charges private employers—its largest rate cut in nearly 60 years if approved by the agency's board of directors. The BWC has once again shown its commitment to Ohio businesses, and I applaud them for their work to keep employees safe while also cutting rates and being fiscally responsible. I hope to see the proposed reduction go into effect, creating new job and investment opportunities for our local businesses.
