Dear Neighbor,
The legislature is currently on legislative recess for the summer, but that doesn't mean our work stops! I have been busy using this time to meet with constituents and tour local businesses to hear about the issues that are most important to you and your communities. The information you provide is crucial for when I return to the Statehouse, and I anticipate a strong finish to this year's legislative session.
As always, if you ever have thoughts or suggestions as to how we can make improvements to our state, please don't hesitate to contact me at Wilson@OhioSenate.gov or 614-466-9737. I look forward to continuing these conversations throughout the remainder of the summer.

Back to School Savings August 3 - 5
Ohio's popular sales tax holiday is back this weekend starting at 12:01 a.m. on Friday, August 3 and ending at 11:59 p.m. on Sunday, August 5. This tax free weekend, recently made permanent by the Ohio legislature, provides families with some monetary relief during the oftentimes expensive back-to-school shopping season. During the holiday, the tax exemption will apply to clothing under $75 and school supplies and instructional materials priced at $20 or less.
Job Development Opportunities Using Only a Library Card
A new partnership between the Ohio Library Council, the Ohio Public Library Information Network and LinkedIn will now provide access to FREE courses to boost critical workforce development skills. The courses have a wide range of topics from technology training to learning about supply chain operations and management projects. This is an excellent resource for self-motivated individuals to boost their marketable skills and improve our workforce. The program is available to every library cardholder across the state, which makes it easy for those not in the workforce to get a leg-up on their job search.
Congratulating Local High Schools For National Recognition
Congratulations to all of the schools who earned a top ranking by the U.S. News and World Report! This kind of recognition is a clear indicator of the high quality education our students receive on a daily basis. The passion and dedication from our teachers, administrators and parents is evident from their many successes.
$1.5 Billion Back in the Pockets of Ohio's Job Creators
It is a great sign when the Bureau of Worker's Compensation is able to give money back to Ohio's job creators. The fact they can do this while also improving employee safety and working conditions is a testament to the professionalism of their organization. I look forward to seeing the positive impact this rebate will have on jobs and local businesses, and expect to see a boost in economic growth in Southwest Ohio.
